Dubai doesn’t do things by halves and, as you would expect, the city’s numerous five-star hotels have some extraordinarily extravagant suites. From sky-high private pools to monogrammed beach bags and chefs on call, we’ve picked out some of our favourite luxury suites in Dubai for epic vacations and staycations.

Bulgari Suites, Bulgari Resort Dubai
The Bulgari Resort Dubai speaks in whispers when really it could be shouting about how lovely it is – if attention-seeking were in its nature. At 120 square metres, the resort’s five Bulgari Suites may not be the largest or showiest in the city, but they’re certainly among the classiest. Discerning guests will notice materials have a reassuringly expensive feel, with warm woods, Italian marble, and cashmere blankets by Enzo degli Angiuoni draped on the dreamy beds, all of which make these suites so exquisitely comfortable. There are high-end Devialet speakers in the living room, Technogym weights and yoga mats tucked away in the walk-in wardrobe, and a selection of the type of coffee table books that you’ll actually want to browse through rather than being there just to decorate the shelves. The magic is really all in the details here: such as the boxes of fresh flowers and chocolates from the in-house boutique; the monogrammed beach bags; and, the personalised visiting cards printed with “My Residence in Dubai” alongside the resort’s address, useful for handing out to boutiques and drivers when you just can’t bear to carry your own shopping home from the mall.

Three-Bedroom Royal Suite, Jumeirah Al Qasr
With golden horse statues galloping up the driveway, intricate mosaics and towering palms, Jumeirah Al Qasr is inspired by the opulent Arabian palaces featured in the evocative tales of One Thousand and One Nights. It’s no surprise then, that the hotel’s three-bedroom Royal Suite is equally palatial. Arabian design touches are everywhere in the suite, from gilded arches and rich fabrics to exquisite hand-woven rugs, intricately painted ceilings and carpet-like mosaic tiles on the bathroom floors. The 84-square-metre balcony is the perfect spot for gazing out over the resort’s two-kilometre stretch of private beach, lush gardens and canals, and the iconic silhouette of the Burj Al Arab, and while it’s not an amenity unique to this particular suite, complimentary access to the adjacent Wild Wadi waterpark keeps kids happy.

The Marina Royal Suite, The Lana
The Lana, Dorchester Collection’s sense of soothing, quiet luxury pervades every element of the hotel, and extends to the 333-square-metre Marina Royal Suite that welcomes guests with a grown-up sense of calm and quality. The Business Bay location may not be as glamorous as some others in the city, but the views of the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai shimmering across the waters of Marasi Bay Marina are enough to make you wonder if you even want to leave your suite at all. The same views can be enjoyed from the handsome standalone tub in the marble-clad bathroom, and from the 40-square-metre balcony. There’s a larger suite here – the Lana Royal Suite – but the Marina Royal Suite won us over for its stop-you-in-your-tracks views. And while driving around in a Rolls Royce Phantom isn’t necessarily the definition of quiet luxury, the round-trip transfers included when you book the suite are a pretty great way to start and end a stay.

Royal Penthouse, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Beach
Sitting above the beach and the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, and accessed by its own private lift, the Mandarin Oriental’s split-level Royal Penthouse is filled with light, and tones of blues, whites and golds that reflect the scenery outside. Instantly calming, the suite beckons with a sense of stylish elegance, being the kind of place where you want to kick off your sandals and sink onto a couch, soak in the circular bathtub, or lounge on the bed gazing out at the sea and sky. There’s an in-suite gym, study, kitchen, bar and ample space for socialising, but the outdoor space is the real highlight here, including multiple balconies with sofas and sunbeds, a sea-view plunge pool, and a sunken sitting area with a marble fireplace at its centre.

The Celebration Suite, Nikki Beach Resort & Spa
Nikki Beach knows how to party, and the resort’s Celebration Suite is designed just for that. The sprawling 1,045-square-metre space was once a nightclub but it’s been transformed into a three-bedroom suite, featuring super-sized beds, as well as a huge living room with a long bar, colour-changing lights, and a professional sound system. The suite sits right above the beach club and now feels almost like its own private club, high above the action but with easy access to the wider party down a private staircase protected by a security guard and a velvet rope. There’s a certain element of secrecy, and access is via a private lift next to the club rather than through the main resort. A large terrace runs the entire length of the suite with plenty of comfy seating and sun loungers, and a 17-metre private pool provides the perfect perch for people-watching at the club below. Once the sun sets and the beach club closes for the day, you can crank up the music and get your own party going.

Villa One, One&Only One Za’abeel
Soaring over the city in a shimmering tower, One&Only One Za’abeel is the first urban resort for the Dubai-based luxury hotelier. The hotel’s top suite, known as Villa One, in a nod to One&Only’s signature beach villas in places like the Maldives, Mauritius and Mexico, spans 755 square metres on the 52nd and 53rd floors. There’s a slim, mosaic-tiled pool outdoors with vertiginous skyline views, and indoors there’s a cinema, private gym with a daily complimentary personal training session, treatment room with two complimentary 60-minute spa treatments per stay, and a private chef, available on request. Additional perks include a Longevity Wellness Assessment and wellbeing treatment at the hotel’s Longevity Hub by Clinique La Prairie, return airport transfers, complimentary afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks at the hotel’s bar, Sphere, and a dedicated host who can do everything from unpacking and repacking, to securing hard-to-get tables around town. But best of all are the flexible check-in and check-out times, meaning that even a one-night stay can be stretched out as long as 30 hours.

Raffles Royal Suite, Raffles The Palm
Raffles The Palm is Extra with a capital E. The hotel’s exterior, covered in countless Corinthian columns, is a hint of what’s to come when you step inside and look up at the lobby’s soaring dome and towering pink marble columns. The three-bedroom Raffles Royal Suite maintains this sense of extravagance, with handcrafted Italian furnishings by Francesco Molon, whose furniture can be found in locations as diverse as the Four Seasons Hotel in Florence, Italy, and the Presidential Palace in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It’s a bit like Versailles-meets-Dubai, with Baroque-style gold detailing on practically every surface, louche fabrics, ornately patterned carpets and twinkling chandeliers. There’s a large outdoor terrace with sunbeds, a Jacuzzi and views of the Arabian Sea, the Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina in the distance, and this being Raffles, thoughtful and caring butler service is a given.

The Incredible Suite, Five Luxe JBR
Incredible feels like a fitting name for this suite, one of six standout rooms at Five’s newest Dubai hotel. At 580 square metres, it could comfortably house a standard Dubai apartment twice over, with room to spare. Lounge and dining spaces are separated by a meticulously styled screen holding coffee table books on everything from design and travel to CBD wellness therapy. A grand 10-seater marble dining table sits beneath a chandelier made from mismatched circles of coloured glass, and on the terrace beyond, circular day beds and a hammock surround a private plunge pool that looks out onto Ain Dubai. The bedroom, with its calming blonde woods and floaty sheer drapes, gives way to a walk-in dressing area and huge bathroom, at the centre of which sits a freestanding egg-shaped bathtub. Interesting design touches – like the burnt orange leather modular chaise in the corner of the bedroom and the towering potted fiddle leaf plant in the entryway – feel thoughtful and grown up. Outside may be a party, but this space is its perfect antithesis. Unless, of course, you don’t want it to be. Suite guests are more than welcome to have visitors to continue the party. And with a room like this, it almost feels like a shame not to.

Royal Mansion, Atlantis The Royal
Atlantis The Royal‘s four-bedroom duplex suite that’s hosted the likes of Beyonce and Jay-Z occupies the skybridge of the Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates-designed structure, taking in Palm Jumeirah and the city skyline beyond in one direction and the endless blues of the open Arabian Gulf in the other. Much like the hotel in which it sits, everything inside the Royal Mansion is designed in truly palatial scale. Two of the four bedrooms come with their own steam rooms, a 100-year-old olive tree welcomes guests in the private foyer, there’s a 10-seater sunken majlis for entertaining, as well as a 12-seater dining table, entertainment room and separate library and bar area. Bathroom amenities are Hermès, of course, and there’s a daily gifting service with turndown. On the private sundeck sits a glass-fronted infinity pool, and a private kitchen keeps guests fed and watered for the duration of their stay.
